DHAKA: Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in their consolation win in the last league game of the Twent20 Asia Cup here at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on Friday night.Chasing a daunting target of 151, Pakistan completed their second victory of the tournament with four balls to spare.Their main scorers were Umar Akmal (48 off 37 balls), Sarfraz Ahmed (38 off 27 balls) and Shrajeel Khan (31off 24 balls) while Mohammad Hafeez made 14 and Shoaib Malik was 13 not out.Umar Akmal, who was named man-of-the-match at the end of the game, struck two sixes and four boundaries.Earlier Sri Lanka, sent into bat, made 150 for four with the help of brilliant fifties by openers Tillakaratne Dilshan and Dinesh Chandimal.They provided a fine start making together 110 runs ‘ the highest opening stand of the tournament.Stand-in captain Chandimal remained not out on 75, his career-best score, from 56 balls with ten boundaries and a six while Dilshan, who had been out of form, batted well for the first time in the tournament, hitting 58 off 49 balls with seven fours and a six.Later, they lost four wickets for just 15 runs but Chandimal succeeded to take the score to 150 in 20 overs.Fast bowler Mohammad Irfan claimed two wickets for 16 runs while Wahab Riaz and Shoaib Malik took one wicket each. ””
