The BBC’s live coverage of this season’s FA Cup starts this weekend with the preliminary-round tie between Ashington and Bishop Auckland on Saturday.

The game between two historic non-league clubs from the North East will be available to watch via the BBC iPlayer, Red Button and BBC Sport website on tablet, phone and desktop.

Ashington AFC, who hold the record as the northernmost team to have ever played in the Football League, will play host to the record 10-time winners of the FA Amateur Cup at 12:30 BST.

Ashington has produced a host of sporting greats, including Newcastle legend Jackie Milburn, World Cup-winning brothers Bobby and Jack Charlton, and Burnley’s 1960 title winner Jimmy Adamson.

Both sides play in Northern Premier League Division One East and played each other in the league on Tuesday, with Bishop Auckland winning 2-1.

Live coverage of FA Cup matches will again be provided by BBC Sport from the preliminary round through to the final at Wembley next May.
