NHTSA closes probe into more than 411,000 Ford vehicles due to loss of power
(Reuters) – The U.S. safety regulator said on Monday it has closed a probe into an estimated 411,315 Ford (NYSE:) SUVs and pickup trucks over a loss of motive power.
In 2022, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had opened its investigation into certain Ford Bronco vehicles equipped with 2.7L EcoBoost engines over concerns of a faulty valvetrain.
The probe was expanded later to include other models such as the Edge, F-150 and Explorer equipped with the same motor.
Earlier this year, the automaker submitted a recall request to test vehicles equipped with the impacted engine to determine if a motor replacement was needed.
Ford also said it would provide an extended warranty coverage on the vehicles for a period of 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs earlier.
