Anil Kumble appointed India head coach BCCI
MUMBAI: Indian cricket board BCCI has appointed former captain Anil Kumble as new cricket team coach on Thursday.His name was recommended by cricket advisory committee members Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman.According to the Indian media he will take over the role for a period of one year.Indian cricket board had received 57 applications for the post and narrowed it down to 21 before handing over the list to cricket advisory committee that interviewed the candidates shortlisted by them. Among them were Ravi Shastri, Lalchand Rajput, Pravin Amre, Anil Kumble, Tom Moody, Stuart Law and Andy Moles.Initially the members sought more time to confer but that timeline was pushed back to Thursday and at a press conference, Kumble was handed over the reigns of the team.
