DUBAI: Islamabad United defeated Karachi Kings by nine wickets in the second qualifying final of the Pakistan Super League here at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium at Saturday night.Thus, Karachi Kings were eliminated whereas Islamabad United will play Peshawar Zalmi, who lost the first qualifying final to Quetta Gladiators.Quetta Gladiators have already made it to the final.After restricting Karachi Kings to a low score of 111 for nine, Islamabad United easily achieved the target in just 14.2 overs to win the match by nine wickets.They lost only one wicket ‘ Sharjeel Khan, who was caught by Iftikhar Ahmed off Sohail Khan for’ nine.Later, Dwayne Smith and Brad Haddin hit unbeaten fifties to cruise their team to victory.Haddin made 52 off 29 balls with three sixes and four boundaries while Smith scored 50 off 48 balls with seven fours and a six.Earlier, Islamabad United captain Misbah-ul-Haq, winning the toss put Karachi Kings into bat first and then his bowlers did a commendable job to devastate the opponents. ‘Fast bowler Mohammad Sami, bowled extremely well to capture five wickets for just eight runs while fast bowler Andre Russell claimed two for 21.For Karachi Kings, stand-in captain Ravi Bopara was the only batsman, who showed some resistance against the accurate bowling by Islamabad United. He made 37 off 36 balls with a six and a four.Only two other batsmen, Lendl Simmons (19) and Ryan ten Doecshate (16) could make into the double figures.”
